The Poetry Corner : Don’t You Dare! Written By Samantha James

I wrote the poem Don’t You Dare out of pure anger and directed at one individual full force. The choice came down to writing my feelings out or going off on them. I think we all have felt this way. Stubborn is definitely a descriptive word that fits me.

DON’T YOU DARE

Don’t you dare

Tell me what to care

It is not your right I fear

Don’t you dare

Tell me what to believe

For it is mine to conceive

Don’t you dare

Tell me I am wrong

It is not your song

Don’t you dare

Tell me how to behave

You just aren’t that brave

Don’t you dare

Tell me what to think

It is you who should blink

Look in the mirror; before you dare

See your own faults; before you point

Think with a brain; before you pain

This is not a game

I swear you want to snare

But before you glare

Make sure you are

Utterly; devoutly; morally

Perfect
